Tomomi Kamoshita
(Tokyo Prefecture)

Kintsugi is the art of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage with lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum. Tomomi was introduced to the modern version of kintsugi and yobitsugi in 2010.

Tomomi Kamoshita, our visiting artist based in Tokyo, will share the art in a modern version of kintsugi technique.

Two different workshops will be offered during her visit. One is to create something new with broken pieces and the other is to repair the broken ceramics returning them to functional pieces.

Let’s embrace the imperfect art objects in philosophy of “wabi sabi” and celebrate the beauty from different perspectives.

Keep a favorite broken plate or cup until these workshops in the Spring of 2019 when you can make a new art pieces of your own. We plan to create these workshops for all ages.
